Wild Honey Mandarin Gallery featured in Expat Living’s best free flow brunches

‘Perched above Victoria’s Secrets in Mandarin Gallery, Wild Honey feels like a treehouse peering out over busy Orchard Road. Famous for serving all day breakfast, the restaurant’s à la carte menu has something for everyone.

Expect hearty plates, healthy and vegetarian options, and lots for the kids as well. We started with smoked salmon gougères (four pieces per serving) with salmon pearls, dill and sour cream. The pastry was crispy and light, and the filling flavourful. The mains are a trip around the world with dishes named for countries or cities.

We loved the Corsican, for example – an omelette with a filling of goat and feta cheese, spinach and basil and topped with chestnuts, lavender honey, herbs and beautiful edible flowers. The Tunisian – Shakshuka with chorizo – had the right amount of spice and was perfect with the cucumber and tomato salad.

The drinks were also beautifully presented: the iced coffee was frozen coffee ice blocks served with a carafe of warm milk to slowly dissolve the cubes. You can also order fruity mocktails and alcoholic options. I wish we’d left room for the desserts – we will have to go back for the Canadian buttermilk pancakes with candied bacon, and the Brittany French toast with chocolate hazelnut filling and salted caramel mascarpone.’
