“Israeli food, conviviality and politics” meet at Wild Honey
Arranged by the Israeli Embassy to Singapore, we had the honour to host two very special and socially distanced tasting sessions to put the spotlight on Israeli cuisine in Singapore. This isn’t the first time we have showcased this rich and varied cuisine as it holds a very special place in our hearts, since Guy Wachs – one of our founders – was born in Haifa, Israel before moving to New York.
Wild Honey hosted Chef Yossi from Palomar London and Mechneyuda Jerusalem for a special ‘Taste of Jerusalem’ week long pop up a while back which was wildly successful. From this inspiration we were able to develop some of the culinary themes and flavours even more and to reflect these in our current menu at Mandarin Gallery.
So what better place than Wild Honey to showcase the best of Israeli food?
We’re sharing the highlights from these sessions along with Seth Lui’s glowing review. Enjoy and we hope to see you soon to share some of this wonderful food.
While we can’t travel physically, let your senses travel to Israel!
“With the tahini, amba, and seeds tabouleh salad, I simply cannot put this down.”
“Traditionally, this is a Palestinian Arab import and has often been referred to as the shining star of Palestinian cuisine. Introducing it today, amongst these other dishes from Israel, is a telling appreciation and acknowledgement of Palestinian hospitality.”
“Truly impresses with overflowing flavours of rich Valrhona chocolate and sugar in an impeccable play of balance.”
“I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the plethora of food options Wild Honey offer in their extensive menu. But in as far as utilising gastronomy in understanding a little bit more about Israeli culture, Wild Honey ticks all the right boxes. In a world in danger of a growing divide of opinions, education such as this, is definitely something I can get behind.”
Thank you so much Israel Embassy to Singapore and thank you so much for such a wonderful in depth review of the food and its special ingredients Seth Lui.
